Check the total for my postcodeThe deadlines
Puppies must be microchipped by eight weeks old and before they leave you, and the breeder must be recorded as each puppy's first keeper on the database.
Kittens must be chipped by 20 weeks old. They can leave before then, but chipping the litter first means every new owner starts with a chip in place.
When should you microchip a puppy? What a litter costs
Four or more animals are £15 each, so a litter of 6 is £90. Outside our core area a travel fee is calculated from your postcode and shown separately, before you share contact details. Bigger bookings can make a longer trip worthwhile, so if you are outside the usual area, ask.
Getting ready for the visit
Pick one way of telling the litter apart and keep it until every animal has left: coloured collars, ribbons, or names on a sheet. Make one row per animal with its sex, colour and markings, and a space for the chip number.
Have your name, address, phone number and email exactly as you want them on the database. Clear a table or worktop with good light, and if you can, have a second person to hand animals over and keep the rest settled.

Each buyer should leave with their animal's chip number, the name of the database it is registered on, and a reminder to transfer the record into their name. Keep your own copy of the sheet showing which buyer took which animal.
Common questions
Can I book for a full litter?
Yes. Four or more animals are £15 each, so a whole litter in one visit costs much less per puppy or kitten. Send your litter size and postcode and Tony will arrange the visit.
Do kittens have to be chipped before they leave?
Not if they leave before 20 weeks old. Unlike puppies, the law lets the new owner get a kitten chipped by then. Chipping before they leave still means each new owner starts with a chip in place and a number to register.
What if two puppies look identical?
That is what the collars or ribbons are for. Put them on before the visit and leave them on until collection.
Are you trained to microchip pets?
Yes. Tony has completed approved PeddyMark training and holds a Certificate of Training & Competence for microchipping dogs and small mammals.
